grid width in % stretches out of screen

hi friends

if i keep grid with 40 columns and have the width 95%
1. on page directly, then it stretches fine (no problems)

2. but in a table , it stretches too long about >>3000px

I tried setting the table/td width also in % etc.. all ways

what should be the reason?
